The ditetradecyldimethylammonium--Au(dmit)2 [2C14--Au(dmit)2] salt, a molecular system for constructing the highly conductive Langmuir--Blodgett films, crystallizes in the triclinic space group $P\bar{1}$ with two salts in the unit cell. The crystal is composed of alternate layers of Au(dmit)2 anions and ditetradecyldimethylammonium cations with pronounced interdigitation of the alkyl chains. The planar Au(dmit)2 anions are dimerized by face-to-face stacks, further forming two different extended columns along the $a$-axis with short side-by-side contacts by sulfur atoms. Although the two different columns have sulfur contacts, the intercolumn sulfur--sulfur distances are appreciably longer than those inside the columns, suggesting a one-dimensional nature.
