A finite volume method to analyze the Fourier thermal transport in anisotropic layered media in the presence of a volume source moving relative to the media is presented. The method solves the problem in the reference frame of the source and uses a nonuniform polar grid. The transient problem is solved using the Douglas–Gunn alternate direction implicit method.
