The pressure–temperature phase diagram of an antiferroelectric liquid crystal, 4-(1-methylheptyloxycarbonyl)phenyl-4$'$-octyloxybiphenyl-4-carboxylate (MHPOBC), was obtained from switching current and dielectric constant measurements. The ferroelectric chiral smectic-C phase disappeared at about 60 MPa and the regions of the chiral smectic-Cα and chiral smectic-Cγ phases widened under pressure.
