Periodically poled KNbO3 (PPKN) with a period of 40 μm were prepared to demonstrate the second-harmonic generation of green (532 nm). The propagation direction was set to be the $b$ axis in order to use large nonlinear coefficient $d_{31}$, and the embryonic nucleation method was applied to form a spatially uniform domain inversion. The conversion efficiency and angle tolerance of PPKN were compared with those of conventional critical phase-matched KN (CPMKN). The angle $\theta$ on the $b$–$c$ plane) acceptance of PPKN was 0.96 deg$\cdot$cm, which was 38 times higher than that of CPMKN (0.025 deg$\cdot$cm), and wide-angle tolerance was demonstrated. Its conversion efficiency was approximately 2 times higher than that of CPMKN.
