Some Gd1-xCux ($x=0.005$, 0.01 and 0.015) alloys have been prepared by arc melting method. With a small quantity of Cu atoms introducing in Gd, the Curie temperature of these alloys increase slightly. The magnetic entropy changes of these alloys decrease but they still have large values. Compared to pure Gd metal, Gd1-xCux alloys have broader working temperature regions and larger value of the refrigerant capacities. These results suggest that Gd1-xCux alloys may be utilized as refrigerant in magnetic refrigeration.
