The optical fiber intrusion sensor using coherent optical time domain reflectometer is studied. The configuration of the sensor is an optical time domain reflectometer using coherent interference of Rayleigh backscattering in a single-mode fiber. When a certain part of the fiber is subjected to a perturbation, the localized intensity variation is induced at a time corresponding to the location of perturbation and the signal-to-noise ratio is about 3.3.
