High-density patterning of DNA was performed using Au disk arrays (disk period: 500 nm, disk diameter: 125 nm) fabricated using an ideally ordered anodic porous alumina. The arrangement of patterns composed of fluorescent-dye-labeled, thiolated DNA was confirmed to correlate with the disk arrangement on the Au disk array. It was found that hybridization of fluorescent-dye-labeled target DNA with probe DNA immobilized on the Au disk array exhibits approximately 100% efficiency.
