In this paper, the resonant characteristics of the transverse magnetic (TM010) resonant mode in a cylindrical cavity loaded with a dielectric rod and a conductive layer on its metal wall are analyzed numerically using characteristic equations obtained by the mode-matching method. Results show that an overshooting phenomenon for the resonant frequency and the unloaded Q-factor appears when the electric conductivity of the conductive layer is equivalent to that at which the skin depth of the layer is equal to its thickness. Measurement error in material properties, which is affected by the conductive layer, is discussed.
