Seven cases of carcinoma of the external auditory canal and four cases of carcinoma of the middle ear are reported. The patients' ages ranged from 51 to 86. Five cases involving the external auditory canal were squamous cell carcinoma, and the other two were adenoid cystic carcinoma. All four cases involving carcinoma of the middle ear were squamous cell carcinoma.<BR>The three cases of carcinoma limited to the external auditory canal were treated surgically or with radiation or both. All three patients have survived for five years. Four advanced cases involving the external auditory canal and two cases of middle ear carcinoma were treated with radiation and anticancer agents. Four of them were died within one year. Two cases of carcinoma of the middle ear treated with surgery and radiation have survived for five years.
