Low molecular weight liquid crystal (LCs) with chiral smectic C phase have been widely studied because of their ferroelectric properties, electro-optical effects with fast switching time and memory. The aggregation and optical properties of liquid crystal (LC) mixtures consisting of ferroelectric and chiral material have been studied. The mixtures showed blue phase, TGB, chiral nematic, smectic A and chiral smectic C. The reversible opaque (light scattering)-transparent change was observed upon application of ac electric fields with low and high frequencies, respectively.
