概要

化学物質はわれわれの日常生活に大きな便益をもたらしてくれる一方で，ヒト健康や生態系への負の影響をもたらす。近年，環境保護にも大きな関心が払われ，ヒト健康のみならず生態系の保護も目的にして，化学物質の利用に一定の規制をかけることは，社会的に受け入れられ始めている。しかしながら，化学物質の生態影響評価は歴史が浅いこともあり，何をどのように評価し，どのように保護すれば良いのかに対しては定見が無く，現実に管理を遂行するには解決しなくてはならない問題が多くある。本稿では，まず重金属，主に亜鉛を事例にして，リスク評価結果の紹介を行う。次いで，既存の問題点や生態リスク評価，リスク管理の考え方の紹介を行い，最後に，近年生態系管理の様々な分野で用いられている順応的管理を援用した化学物質の管理法の提案を行う。
