The particle size distribution and number density at engine-out were measured by changing EGR rate and injection pressure in a single cylinder diesel engine. This engine was adopted high-boost, wide-range and high EGR system and high injection system. The particle size distribution and number density were measured at BMEP=0.9MPa as medium load and at BMEP=0.2MPa as light load at 1200rpm, which are high frequently used for JE05 transient test mode. Brake specific particle number emissions were 4.3×10<SUP>13</SUP>#/kWh at BMEP=0.9MPa and 1.1×10<SUP>14</SUP>#/kWh at BMEP=0.2MPa.
