This study addresses the experimental investigations into the solution stability of oxidized biodiesel in petro-diesel. When extremely oxidized biodiesel is blended in petro-diesel, highly viscous polymer is separated from biodiesel/petro-diesel blend because of difference in polarity. With reference to this phenomenon, reforming of biodiesel fuel by means of a solvent fractionation has been demonstrated to improve the oxidation stability of biodiesel. Firstly, unsaturated fatty-acid methyl esters, which have poor oxidation stability, are polymerized by oxidation treatment, and secondly, they are removed by a solvent fractionation. As the result, content of saturated fatty acids is successfully increased.
