Flow around a Bluff Body with Rounded Edges

Aerodynamic coefficients and pressure distributions of flow around a bluff body with rounded edges were measured by wind tunnel test. Numerical simulations of flow around the bluff body were executed by using Large Eddy Simulation (LES) with Dynamic Smagorinsky Model (DSM). The experimental and numerical results were compared. Large Eddy Simulation accurately computed laminar separation around the rounded edges. However, the computational accuracy of laminar separation around the other corner edges was lower than that around the rounded edges. Therefore, the computational accuracy of the aerodynamic coefficients has decreased in case of yawing angle of 30 degrees.
