Cytologic diagnosis of malignant lymphoma of the uterine cervix is difficult, because the malignant cells usually proliferate under the epithelium. However, the existence of erosion may help to diagnose malignant lymphoma of the uterine cervix. A middle-aged woman visited our hospital with a history of genital bleeding. Colposcopy revealed obvious redness on the upper lip of the uterine cervix, suggesting the existence of erosion. Cytologic examination revealed atypical cells in a background of inflammatory cell infiltration with erosion. Histological and immunohistochemical examination revealed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. This case served to underscore the significance of the erosion of the uterine cervix in the diagnosis of malignant lymphoma.
