Background : The large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) of the breast is a rare tumor and categorized as one of primary neuroendocrine tumor under the WHO classification.Case : The patient was a 71-year-old women. Numerous tumor cells were obtained and trabecular and rosette-like structures were observed. Tumor cells were positive for chromogranin A. The tumor showed solid growth with trabecular and rosette-like structures, and was positive for chromogranin A. The pathological diagnosis was LCNEC.Conclusion : We report herein on a case of LCNEC of the breast. Our experience indicates that careful examination of cytological preparations and immunocytochemical studies are useful in identifying LCNEC of the breast.
