This study is to investigate the following questions : (1) How does e-learning develop students′ English proficiency? (2) How does e-learning change students' motivations for learning English? (3) What relationship is found between the improvements and their motivations through e-learning? Regarding the first and second questions, a statistically-significant difference between pre- and post- tests scores shows that e-learning helped the students' develop their proficiency, whereas no statistical significances found between pre- and post- questionnaire results indicates that e-learning failed to increase their motivation. In order to investigate the third question, three groups were formed according to their improvements in the test scores. Statistically-significant differences were found between highly-improved and moderately-improved groups concerning the attitude toward the course and L2-classroom anxiety.
