Damped oscillations of the middle ear were examined in guinea pigs. The oscillation augmented temporally in the early stage of asphyxic anoxia. This temporary augmentation of the oscillation was considered myogenic because it was not induced by cutting of the stapedial muscle and by administration of a muscle relaxant. Anoxia sensitive delayed oscillations were usually put out the observation by the damped oscillations. The delayed oscillations may be stimulated oto-acoustic emissions in the guinea pig.
