Polytomography is a very valuable diagnostic radiological test for evaluation of such pathological conditions as (1) congenital deformities; (2) inflammatory process (cholesteatoma, lybyrinthine fistula); (3) traumatic injuries (transverse and horizontal fractures, ossicular fractures and/or dislocation); (4) neoplasm (acoustic neuroma, glomus tumor, and carcinoma); and (5) otodystrophies (otosclerosis, Paget's disease, osteogenesis imperfecta, and fibrous dysplasia) of the temporal bones.<BR>Polytomography is also useful for the study of normal variants of the temporal bone simulating pathological conditions.
