Malignant tumors of the small intestine are rare. In this report, we describe a relatively early case of leiomyosarcoma in the left lower abdomen of a 75-year-old man, who was complaining of lumbago. Further examination by barium study of the small intestine, abdominal computed tomography, and angiography indicated that the tumor was leiomyosarcoma of the small intestine. On laparotomy, a smooth-surfaced, dark-red tumor, measuring 6.5×4.0×3.5cm, was found to protrude from the wall of the jejunum about 120cm anal from the Treitz's ligament. Segmental resection of the jejunum and the regional lymphnodes were performed. On pathological examination, the diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma was confirmed and node metastasis was not recognized. The patient is well three months after surgery without postoperative chemotherapy.
