Intra-cranial hemorrhage results in serious subsequent problems in perinatal and in-fantile period. Kanpo therapy, the traditional Japanese herbal therapy, seems to be ef-fective as conservative treatment after hemorrhage. Three cases are reported. Oral treatment by Kanpo medicine prevented hydrocephalus when it was used immediately after intraventricular hemorrhage at 26 hours after birth in case 1. But Kanpo treatment was not effective in case 2 who had also intraventricular bleeding at 10 hours after birth. In this case, Kanpo medicine was administered first at 6 months old. It is said that Kanpo medicines such as Keishibukuryogan and Goreisan have effects on resolution of clots and intracranial hypertension. Kanpo treatment was also effective when it was used to a retarded infant accompanied by abnormal liver function after head injury. It is case 3 whose mental and physical development became prominent together with the improvement of liver function.
