SARS-THE GLOBAL SPREAD AND IT'S MEASURES AND A SUMMARY OF EPIDEMIOLOGICAL RESULTS

WHO did global scale investigation for SARS the presence of which was identified from March 2003. To search for unknown and new diseases like this a syndromic surveillance system was introduced. In April, a novel corona virus was detected as the cause of SARS, and it has been called SARS corona virus. Clinical features, main transmission mode, inf ectivity became clear gradually, but the origin is still unidentified and its re-emergence is a concern.However, since the time when SARS was still an unknown disease, knowledge has been accumulated and various measures have been taken. Therefore, it is expected that a wide-spread infection can be prevented in the future and at the same time it must be prevented.SARS has created a lot of problems in fields such as the medical system, infectious disease control measures, public health, and health administration. Among these problems, some were promptly solved and others later. However, there are still some problems left unsolved.Raising the level of measures to fight all kinds of infectious diseases as well as SARS is of primary importance in terms of the prevention of the spread of infectious diseases.
