<B><I>Objective</I>:</B> To evaluate the significance of Papanicolaou smears of the uterine cervix in teenagers.<BR><B><I>Study Design</I>:</B> We analyzed cervical cytology in 203 patients who underwent cytology at Hamamatsu Rosai Hospital from Jan. 1994 to Dec. 2003.<BR><I>Result</I>: The incidence of class M a was 5.4%(11/203). Other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are often encountered with women with abnormal cervical smears.<BR><B><I>Conclusion</I>:</B> In the last 3 years, teenagers have shown a high incidence of abnormal cervical smears. We propose that all young women undergo cervical cancer screening.
