We report a case of adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS) associated with squamous cell carcinoma in situ (CIS) of the uterine cervix developing in a 38-year old female. She had a history of atypical findings on cervical cytology for more than 4 years in both squmaous and endocervical cells. She was referred to our hospital because of cytologic atypia in her smear examination for cancer screening. Moderate dysplasia was disclosed in the initial biopsy. During the follow-up period of 57 months, cytologic or histologic examination was carried out every 6 months and glandular or squamous cell atypia was disclosed intermittently. Finally, adenocarcinoma was suspected by the cervical cytology and diagnostic conization was carried out and histologic examination revealed a combination of AIS and CIS. Although the surgical margins were free of malignancy, simple hysterectomy was carried out to avoid the risk of recurrence. Fortunately, there was no neoplastic lesion and she was recurrence free for 24 months after hysterectomy.
