Two cases of low-grade mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphomas arising from parotid glands are presented. Imprint cytology in one case revealed that the tumor cells were medium-sized and had pale staining cytoplasm and irregularly shaped nuclei (centrocyte-like cells). Cells with plasmacytic differentiationin of variable degree were also seen. The other tumor was composed mainly of cells with plasmacytic differentiation of variable degree. Moderate numbers of epithelioid cells were intermingled with tumor cells. Cytologically, lymphoepithelial lesions were not observed in either case.<BR>The diagnosis of low-grade MALT lymphoma is occasionally difficult based only on cytological features.
