Cultured cells derived from human ovarian immature teratoma were characterized. The results were as follows, 1) Tissues and cells obtained from the ovarian immature teratoma patient of 17 years old were primarily cultured. 2) Cultured cells well grew through 6 times subculturing from primary culture. 3) Major part of the original tumor consisted of neuroglia and neuroepithelium like tissues. 4) Cultured cells derived from neuroglia like tissue were thought as undifferentiated because they transformed to epithelial cells in vitro. 5) Fibroblast or nerve like cells were developed from the culturing cell-mass that was formed on the colony of the undifferentiated cells. 6) Electron-microscopical observation revealed that the cell-mass consisted of 2-3 kinds of undifferentiated cells which had no junction, microvilli, filament or secreting granule. 7) Cells that formed the cell-mass were judged as cytopathologically malignant, but other cultured cells were not.
