Urinary 17 KS and 17 OHCS levels were determined in normal subjects and patients with liver diseases after the administration of ethyl linoleate or phospholipid.
After the administration of 9g ethyl linoleate per day, the average value of urinary 17KS was significantly increased, but no change of that of 17 OHCS was observed.
In the normal subjects, given 1.0g or 1.5g of phospholipid per day, the levels of both of urinary 17 KS and 17 OHCS were significantly elevated.
In the patients with acute hepatitis and liver cirrhosis, no remarkable changes were observed.
From these results it was concluded that ethyl linoleate or phospholipid might play a important role in effecting on the function of the adrenal cortex.
