How to revitalize Changsha Kiln ceramic culture nowadays is an issue worthy of study. Recently there has been a trend to revitalize Changsha Kiln ceramic products as high-end artworks, which is against their glorious tradition as folk arts. Thus, this paper seeks to validate the enormous value of Changsha Kiln ceramics as folk crafts. Initially, the paper points out the preconditions for the reusability of Changsha Kiln folk ceramics and further analyzes how the ceramic reusing has contributed to the formation of the sustainable local community summarized as follows: firstly, the awareness of reusing has been deeply entrenched in the minds of local residents; secondly, ceramic reusing has brought to local residents a happy and fulfilled life; thirdly, common values and sentiments have been strengthened by ceramic reusing, such as strong hometown pride and attachment and intimate community ties; lastly, ceramic reusing has contributed enormously to preserving local history and tradition. The paper finally draws the conclusion that the values of Changsha Kiln ceramics lie in their folk attribute, which should be emphasized during the revitalization of Changsha Kiln ceramic culture.
