3-D Anatomy by Rotational Angiography Facilitates the Most Real-Time Location of Pulmonary Veins in Relation to Bronchi during Catheter Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation

Introduction: The accuracy of the atrial anatomy and its relationship to the nearby organs are Critical for Catheter ablations of atrial fibrillation (AF). We reported cases of real-time LA anatomy reconstruction and its close relationship to the bronchus. We reported cases of real-time LA anatomy reconstruction and its close relationship to the bronchus. Method: N/A. Results: Three patients (55±10 y/o 1 male) referred to our laboratory for radiofrequency catheter ablation of AF. Contrast was injected via a pigtail catheter in the lower end of right atrium with a delay of 8 seconds before obtaining rotational left atrial imaging from the fluoroscopic system. Left atrium and 4 pulmonary vein ostia were delineated by using offline software in the workstation (Philips Medical Systems) and annotated in the fluoroscopy. The trachea and bronchus location could be depicted from the images after 3DATG. The relationship of the close proximity between the bronchus and left atrium could be visualized from the 3DRA image. Conclusion: 3DRA images are helpful for decision making during ablation procedures of AF because it shows the real-time close relationship between the LA and bronchus.
