A database of nonfiction, fiction, and poetry describing caring in modern Japan was made. One hundred forty works extracted from the database were then listed on the author's website. The entries were listed in alphabetical order according to title, disease, and the relation between the author and the main character who suffered from an illness. The entries in the lists were also linked to further details on each work. Caregivers experience many emotions while caring for the sick, including both positive emotions like courage, comfort, and happiness as well as negative emotions like anger, sadness, and despair. Emotions influence the quality of caring. Many emotional passages were found in the works. These expressions were listed in alphabetical order, with their context. Two hundred forty expressions were listed, with 550 examples. These lists of works and emotional expressions may be helpful to the caregivers of sick or elderly family members as well as professional caregivers.
