The author studied the amplitudes of chest and abdominal respiratory movements in supine, sitting and standing positions at rest.<BR>The results obtained were as follows;<BR>1. The amplitude of abdominal movements was 2-5 times greater than that of chest movements. This fact was indifferent of sex and age.<BR>2. Chest movements became, in general, greater, when the subjects changed their posture from supine to sitting and standing.
