The Method and Effect of Inhalation Therapy for Asthmatic Children

The inhalation therapy for asthmatic children was discussed according to the literature and our clinical experience. The conclusions was made as follows;<BR>1. In the cases, whose ventilatory function were mild-moderately disturbed, there were no difference in the effect of the inhalation therapy among the methods of nhalation, namely compressor, hand-driving inhaler, metered dose inhaler, intermittent positive pressure breathing and with or without highfrequency vibration.<BR>2. In the cases whose ventilatory function were severely decreased, inermittent positive pressure breathing and the method with high frequency vibration were significantly effective compared to other methods.<BR>3. There was no report about the effect of the inhalation method including the usage of the spacer in childhood asthma in Japan.<BR>4. The ventilating function before inhalation and the reversibility of lung function after the inhalation are the important clinical indices for the indication of the inhalation therapy, admission and discharge.
