A novel preparation of 1,5-disubstituted bicyclo[3.2.2]nonanes and 1,6-disubstituted bicyclo[4.2.2]decanes based on the one-pot reaction of [3.2.2]- and [4.2.2]propellanecarboxylic acids with 2 equiv. of lead tetraacetate, followed by catalytic hydrogenation, is described.
