The photoacoustic spectroscopic technique was used to study <I>in situ</I> cathodic decomposition of CdS and ZnO semiconductor electrodes and electrochemical deposition of metal ions (Cd<SUP>2+</SUP> and Zn<SUP>2+</SUP>) on the semiconductor electrodes.
