• It was found that dichlorocarbene undergoes <I>exo</I> addition preferentially on the C<SUB>3</SUB>–C<SUB>4</SUB> double bond of 2-phenylsulfonyl-2-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octa-3,6-diene and <I>endo</I> addition on that of 2-phenylsulfonyl-syn-8-benzoyloxy-2-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octa-3,6-diene.
