6-Acetyl-2-isopropenyl-5-methoxy-2,3-dihydrobenzofuran was prepared from 2-isopropenyl-5-methoxy-2,3-dihydrobenzofuran via formylation, Grignard methylation, and oxidation. It was then converted to two racemic dihydrobenzofuran derivatives obtained from <I>Baccharis conferta</I>.
