The crystal and molecular structure of the title compound has been determined by the use of the X-ray diffraction method. The central metal atom coordinates all four of the nitrogen atoms of <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>′-dimethyl 2,11-diaza[3.3](2,6)-pyridinophane and two additional chloride atoms in an approximately octahedral geometry.
