Polyether-amides were prepared by the polycondensation of ω-(<I>p</I>-carboxyphenoxy)alkanoic acids (CPAA) and such aliphatic diamines as ethylenediamine, hexamethylenediamine, and piperazine. The polymers with higher intrinsic viscosities and moderate melting temperatures (200–240°C) were obtained from CPAA and hexamethylenediamine. The polymers from both CPAA and ethylenediamine or piperazine generally have low intrinsic viscosities; the former melted at higher temperatures than did the polyether-amides with hexamethylenediamine, while the latter melted at lower ones.
