A new type of <I>S</I><SUB>N</SUB>2′ reaction in which the nucleophile enters to the leaving group occurs in the acylolysis of 4β-bromo-3-keto-5β-steroids (<B>1</B>) to give 2α-acyloxy-3-keto-5β-steroids (<B>2</B>) as a product. This reaction pathway was observed by NMR and by tlc.
