The thermal decomposition of bromomagnesium <I>N</I>-aryl- or <I>N</I>-alkyl-<I>N</I>-bromomagnesio-dithiocarbamate (<B>3</B>), prepared <I>in situ</I> from amines, carbon disulfide, and a Grignard reagent, is a new and convenient method for the preparation of aryl or alkyl isothiocyanate.
