Density measurements have been carried out on a series of dilute aqueous solutions of <I>n</I>-alkanols and α,ω-alkane diols. The apparent molal volumes, φV, have been derived, and the φ°V values (<I>V</I>°2) at an infinite dilution have been estimated. The \bar<I>V</I>°2, the ∂2\bar<I>V</I>°2⁄∂<I>T</I>, and the ∂2\bar<I>V</I>°2⁄∂<I>T</I>2 of the CH2, the CH3, and the CH2OH groups were obtained from the dependence of the \bar<I>V</I>°2 and its temperature behavior upon the alkyl-chain length. It was found that the ∂2\bar<I>V</I>°2⁄∂<I>T</I>2 value well reflects the structural effect.
