Photochemical reactions of 1,4-diaminoanthraquinone in methanol and/or ethanol yielded solvent adducts, <B>4a</B> and <B>4b</B>. The reactions proceeded <I>via</I> an upper triplet state. The quantum yields were 0.013–0.019 at 280 nm.
