• Phenyl 1,1,2,3,3,3-hexafluoropropyl ketone(I) and 2,2,3-trifluoro-3-(trifluoromethyl)indanone(II) were synthesized by the radical-addition reaction of benzaldehyde to hexafluoropropene. The reduction with NaBH<SUB>4</SUB> and the Grignard reaction with methylmagnesium iodide of these ketones gave the corresponding secondary and tertiary alcohols respectively. A Clemmensen reduction, alkaline hydrolyses, and reactions with hydroxylamine and with diazomethane were also carried out.
