On determining the androgenic activity of androgens with the uptake of P<SUB>32</SUB> by the accessory sex glands of the castrated male rats, the following results were obtained.<BR>1) The uptake of P<SUB>32</SUB> by the accessory sex glands in the normal male rats, reaches the peak within 3 hours after P<SUB>32</SUB> injection. After 6 hours the activity becomes lower and stable.<BR>2) The uptake of P<SUB>32</SUB> by the accessory sex glands of the castrated male rats decreased slightly on the 3rd day after castration, and after that no striking change was noticed. The weight loss following castration did not run parallel to the decrease of P<SUB>32</SUB> uptake.<BR>3) The peak of the P<SUB>32</SUB> uptake. by the accesory sex glands after androgen administration preceded to the weight increase in the castrated male rats, and the peak of P<SUB>32</SUB> uptake revealed on the 48th hour after the injection of androgens. The P<SUB>32</SUB> uptake rate was noticed more sensitive in the seminal vesicles than in the prostate glands.<BR>4) The administration of estrogen or gestagen had no effect upon the P<SUB>32</SUB> uptake by male accessory sex glands.<BR>5) Androgen depots showed the characteristic long acting forms in the P<SUB>32</SUB> uptake ; and even 3 weeks after testosterone heptanoate or testosterone cyclopentylepropionate administrations showed no remarkable decreases of P<SUB>32</SUB> uptake.<BR>Testosterone adipinate reached the peak of P<SUB>32</SUB> uptake later than other depot preparations and activity of the former was sluggish.<BR>6) By the weight determination method of seminal vesicles, the biological activity of 10μg dose of testosterone propionate could not be well determined, but the P<SUB>32</SUB> uptake method could determine its 10μg dose by single injection or 9μg dose by 3μg injection daily for 3 days.<BR>7) The possibility of determining the anabolic activity of sex steroids with the P<SUB>32</SUB> uptake by M. levator ani was confirmed.
