Experiments were carried to know radiation injury on resting cells. Regenerating liver adequately provided the material in this experiment. Irradiation was administered to the liver prior to partial hepatectomy. Radiation effects were estimated by DNA synthetic rate and mitosis in the regenerating liver.<BR>From the measurement of IUdR-I uptake and from the studies of autogram, it was indicated that DNA synthetic rate was decreased and onset of the synthesis was delayed extent of which was according to the time interval between irradiation and hepatectomy ; 24 hours or more time interval revealed recovery from these injuries.<BR>However, it was suggested in the histological research that these injuries were at least partially the results of permanent cell damage to be proliferated. These descrepancies remained to be explored.
