Disclosure is undergoing a change, in the past, it was a one-way street along which information was sent only when necessary, and its purpose was the preservation of the recipient's right to know. Now it is becoming an interactive and ongoing relationship between two parties. In a nutshell, it would be fitting to refer to it as interactive (two-way) disclosure. This paper discusses interactive disclosure in 1) marketing (or marketing management) and 2) the appraisal of occupational achievement (personal rating). We will demonstrate that these two examples reflect, from their structures, the essence of interactive disclosure. We will also present models for classifying, through a systems approach, interactive disclosure as encountered in other social settings.
