Previously we reported the correlation of the water-soluble contrast myelogram with operative findings which were carried out in 109 cases (130 discs) from April 1973 to August 1978. Of these there were 10 false positive cases (7.7%) and 3 false negative cases (2.3%). The purpose of this study is to present the follow-up of these cases.Subjective symptoms which included lumbago and leg pain were improved remarkably. Objective symptoms which included root signs were improved significantly but dropout signs remained persistently. All cases had returned to their former occupations and we found no unsatisfactry cases.
