We have already shown that 1, 25(OH)2D3 (D) and Calcitonin (IAsu1·7I-eel calcitonin, CT) promotes calcification of the widened growth plate in the healing stage of EHDP-induced rickets respectively.Now we report the changes of serum Ca, Pi, alkaline phosphatase activity and ash content of the femur in this experiment. The experiment period was 2 weeks and female weanling Wistar King-A rats of A 4 weeks of age were used. Sixty mg/kg of EHDP (ethane-1-hy-droxy-1, 1-diphosphonate) was administered subcutaneously daily for the former 7 days and they were left alone for the latter 7 days, that has been our esta bushed basic modelof EHDP-induced rickets (EHDP group or rat). Forty U/kg of CT was given to the EHDP rat for 14 consecutive days (2), for the former 7 days (f), and the latter 7 days (1), that makes up 3 groups. 0.5μg/kg of D was dosed in the same 3 ways. Both CT and D were administered respectively either in the former 7 days or in the latter 7 days, that makes 4 groups.In the previous report it has been shown that CT (2) and CT (f) groups prompted calcification in the growth plate, and that D (2) and D (1) groups do so. It has been also presented that CT (f) D (f) group showed prominent calcification, and that CT (f) D (1) group showed the most massive calification.In this report the changes of serum Ca, Pi, and alkaline phosphatase activity and ash content are shown. serum Ca elevated from control level of 9.7mg/dl to 11.1 in the EHDP group. serum Ca elevated prominently in such groups that had received D (1) dose, comparing with EHDP group. serum Pi decreased from 8.7 (=control) to 7.9 in the EHDP group. serum Pi showed no clear changes in the other groups. A1-P increased from 19 (=control) to 43 (K. A. U.) in the EHDP group. It decreased in these groups having D (1) dosage. Ash content decreased from 55% (=control) to 41% in the EHDP group. It increased slightly in CT groups and D groups, and it increased more in which groups that showed more calcification in the growth plate.
