A case of irreparable total brachial plexus paralysis due to traction injury.

A case of a sixteen-year-old male who had suffered from irreparable brachial plexus paralysis caused by motor-cycle accident was reported. The diagnosis of irreparable total brachial plexus paralysis was made by cervical myelography, presence of Horner's syndrome and other neurological deficits. At four weeks after the injury, surgery was performed by means of a nerve crossanastomosis using the third and fourth intercostal nerves with the musculocutaneous nerve. Twenty months after the surgery, active flexion of the elbow was returning and arthrodesis of the shoulder was added.
