• What are the differences of lumbar disc herniation between teenage and adult patients? In this paper, we report our experiences with 196 cases of lumbago in teenage patients. All cases were positive for Lasègue's and had sciatica. They complained of lumbago at or before the age of 18. We report the clinical courses of conservative cases and the types of lumbar disc herniation and vertebral posterior spur in the operated cases. Our conclusion is that the displacement of apophyseal ring often occurs in the teenagers' lumbar disc herniation. Even cases with Lasègue's sign can be fully improved by conservative treatment.
